This is Raffi Arto, a 12 year old virtuoso who plays and sings rock and Roll like Elvis Himself but with better abilities as an instrumentalist.

My faith in The Voice has been Restored - This guy is awesome!

I had fallen off the The Voice wagon for a bit, there was nothing that impressed me lately, until I saw this dude. WHAT A VOICE!!!!
This guy's vocal technique is impeccable, his tone, his range everything is nothing short than perfect. If the Voice was a video game, I'd play with this dude and obliterate everybody without mercy, laughing my way to the title.
As a Boca Raton Vocal Coach I come across this kind of voice twice in a lifetime, It really is a delight listening to his performance. Check him out

Bowie... gone

Two nights ago I was watching the latest from David Bowie, Blackstar.
I was mesmerized to see so much pain and joy on it at the same time. The concept of this work is so intrinsic and intense that it was kinda hard to bear, like if the sadness and pain and resentment was taking over my mood.

Today I woke up to the news that he's dead; David Bowie, a true artist, a classic of this era left us wondering, who can follow that?

Vocally Bowie was not Mercury o Jackson, (in my humble opinion) however, his delivery was as good as any of the greatest. His live performance of Space Oddity always gives me goosebumps the size of the everest.

He left great "greatest hits" couple of albums, his sense for creating commercial pop without compromise was impeccable.

Joss Stone Temple Pilots?

What a JOY! Joss Stone is back to light, in a surprising way, in a mashup with Stone Temple Pilots performing their hit Interstate Love Song.
The version is not the most dynamic, I personally miss the harmonies of the background vocals, and think the horns were not at all needed, however the vocal technique and great voice control of Joss Stone is impeccable, even after 15 years of career; and she is looking better than ever!
I'd love to find a singer with those pipes to coach, there's so much delray beach voice lessons can do for someone with this kind of talent.

The Times When Sexy People Made Awesome Music

Some time ago I read an article titled "when not only pretty people were allowed to make music". In that article the author cited masterpieces like Stairway to Heaven and Hotel California as examples of how music used to be great before the horrid Justin Bieber times we are enduring nowadays.
It was a great article, it said that these days pretty people are out there posing as artists just because their beauty, and not so much because of their talent.
Today I woke up with that article in my head and wanted to hear some of those masterpieces (live versions is what I enjoy the most) and looked for a live performance of Stairway to Heaven, and I found this video where a crutch driven Robert Plant soothes the audience with sensual moves, and Jimmy Page is not left behind in charm. These guys were the sexiest boys of their era, super talented musicians who happened to be pleasant to the eye too.
So, the beauty is not to blame for the lack of quality and substance of a lot of today's music; it is our fault, we let pretty faces intrude in our music, regardless of their lack of musical talent.
Now, I'm not that old in my mind, I know there are great music out there too, but regardless to the before mentioned article, the people who gave us the great songs we consider good music, were sexy too.

The performance of Stairway to Heaven that made Robert Plant cry, a real treat!

Dear friends, I found this awesome performance of probably the best song ever. Led Zeppelin in full was there watching their song being performed by Ann and Nancy Wilson (& Co.) the performance is so powerful that the rock masters nearly broke in tears.
If you love music do not miss this awesome performance, it is simply impeccable.
